Ernest E. Valdez, DDS
Dr. Ernest E. Valdez, DDS is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Dental School. A native of San Antonio, Dr. Valdez attended St. Mary's University and received his dental training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). Upon completion of dental school in 1993, Dr. Valdez entered community health care as a staff dentist at Las Clinical Del Norte, a community health center in rural North Central New Mexico, where he was active as a volunteer firefighter and a first-responder. Later, he became the dental director of Su Clinica Familiar, a community health center in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Dr. Valdez returned to the UTHSCSA where he completed a two-year General Practice Residency with a strong hospital component. He, then, entered private practice before returning to the UTHSCSA at his current appointment. Concurrently, Dr. Valdez pursues a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at the UTHSCSA Graduate School along with his current responsibilities. Dr. Valdez is currently the course director of the "Nitrous Oxide Sedation" course and course lecturer for the "Medical Emergency Prevention and Management in the Dental Office" course given to second and third year dental students. Dr. Valdez also offers a continuing dental education course on nitrous oxide sedation. Dr. Valdez continues to provide dento-alveolar surgical services to private patients in The Faculty Practice Clinic at the UTHSCSA. Dr. Valdez is currently a member of the Special Care Dentistry Organization, American Association of Hospital Dentists, The International Association of Student Clinicians, American Dental Association and the Greater San Antonio Hispanic Dental Association.
