Colonel (Ret USAF Reserve) Gregory K. Spackman, DDS
Dr. Gregory K. Spackman is a native of Genoa, Nebraska, a small farming community in east-central Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry where he received his DDS in 1977. Dr. Spackman completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota before entering the United States Air Force. He served five years on active duty and continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee assigned to the office of the Command Dental Surgeon, Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, VA. He holds the rank of Colonel in the Air Force Reserve.
Following his active military duty Dr. Spackman accepted an appointment to the faculty of Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis where he was the Director of undergraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He served in this position for five years. Prior to moving to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School Dr. Spackman served three years as Section Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL.
Dr. Spackman is currently an Associate Professor, with tenure, and Pre-Doctoral Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Spackman's primary responsibility is teaching pre-doctoral students both in the clinic an as course director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery rotation.
