Class of 2014
Nitin Raju was born in India but raised mostly in the United States and Saudi Arabia. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and then went to dental school at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, graduating in 2008. While in dental school, Nitin was active in organized dentistry serving as a delegate for the Michigan Dental Association. He also had an opportunity work on a research project with Sharon L. Brooks, DDS, MS on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and presented a poster at the 2007 International Association of Dental Research meeting. Nitin’s interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery was sparked on a trip with the Thousand Smiles organization to Ensenada, Mexico, where he helped screen patients with cleft lip and/or palate. He saw the smile on the faces of the patients and their families and knew he would go into oral and maxillofacial surgery. Outside of oral surgery, Nitin enjoys camping, traveling, photography, and reading.
