Leonel Perez
Class of 2014
Leonel Perez was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in a small town called Falfurrias. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in 2000. While pursuing his M.S. in Biology at the University of Texas Pan American he was accepted to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School and graduated in 2008 earning his D.D.S. Throughout dental school Leo has had Navy sponsorship through the Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) and between his third and fourth year he was honorably selected into a Full-Time Out Service (FTOS) OMS residency through the Navy Duty Under Instruction (DUINS) program. He is a Lieutenant in the Navy serving the U.S. as an active duty member. He is currently a resident in the University of Texas Health Science Center Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Medical School. Leo and his wife, Lizette, have 3 children, Levi, Landyn, and Layla. Motivation to become a OMS stems from the passion of operating and being part of a group of professionals which are naturally gifted people that do it very well. Interests outside of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery include running, weight lifting, movies, and spending time with my wife, kids, and friends.
